Besprited

An opinionated free and open source application for creating and animating 2D sprites.

About

Besprited is a fresh, fast-developing application for drawing and animating pixel-art meant to close the feature gaps between LibreSprite and the Aseprite project it originated from, which moved from the open-source GPLv2 license into a proprietary one in 2016.

Besprited has been created in 2026 as a response to a very slow and stale development cycle of LibreSprite, with the goal of providing the users with a faster access to a broader list of in-built features.
